Beer, Chicken, Stogies, Hypocrisy

This Blog Has it ALL

I just wrote up my doro wat/injera recipe. And I realized that I have 24 recipes written up for the new book, plus five waiting to be written up. And I have a couple of beer recipes I want to add.

I'm going to combine all my stuff into one new book. I think the old recipes were great, but the new ones are even better, so it would be a shame to let people buy a book that doesn't contain my best work.

I'm giving the Nigerians a rest for a day or two. I'm getting all sorts of emails like "I AM WORRIED" and "ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?". Screw them. If I lose them, there will be plenty of new Nigerians to replace them.

My work today was facilitated by a lovely glass of Unibroue Fin du Monde beer. I still need to try to clone that stuff. I have a Belgian-style ale, but it's considerably heavier. I think I can get something a lot like Fin du Monde if I use Pilsner malt, some wheat, a pound of sugar, and a pound of light crystal malt.

I also enjoyed a marvelous Romeo y Julieta Cedro de Luxe No. 3. Very tasty. It has a weird, sharp-tasting tobacco, sort of like a Cuaba. I know Val Prieto will ream me out for smoking it.

Speaking of Val Prieto, he has really knocked himself out preparing for the Cuba Nostalgia Convention, which takes place in about three weeks. I don't know how he does it. People are GIVING him laptops so there will be multi-station live blogging. And of course, I will be there giving my full support, even though I am a hypocrite who smokes Castro's finest products. I guess I should stop. Do I get any sympathy for being an addict?

Dominican cigars are wonderful, but DAMN, those Cubans...

All right, I'm evil. Whatever.

Run over to Babalublog immediately and check out the convention post.
