What Ever Happened to Saturday?
I Miss It
What was I thinking when I decided to fix the yard and try to keep up with home maintenance? Life was so easy when I used to sit back and watch things rot. Now every Saturday is used up, running errands and sweating in the yard or the garage.
Today I went to Northern Tool to pick up all the air crap I found on their website. And they had almost none of it. I knew better. Never go to a real store when you can use the Internet.
Shot by Home Depot for dirt, mulch, poison, a hinge, and a sliding bolt. Another half-hour shot to hell.
Hit Costco. God help me. Why do I keep going on weekends? The dregs of the universe swarm the place from Saturday morning to Sunday night. But I found a nice rib roast to age. As my readers predicted, the cost of beef is rising. It's up ten percent or so since my last roast. Guess I'll have to break down next week and buy another prime roast, since I'm down to two aged steaks.
After two more errands, I was home, and it only killed three and a half hours. Now I have to spread dirt and mulch and install the hinge and bolt. I couldn't force myself to buy a couple of shelves I needed, so I won't have to face that today.
You can definitely make a case for letting your house fall apart.
Before I buy the wrong thing, someone clue me in on air hammers. Northern Tool has a very small selection. They have an Ingersoll-Rand 121K kit for $89, with a few chisels. But it has a shorter stroke than their cheaper model. I can't figure that out. I have no idea which air hammer is best. I figured $89 had to be an okay buy, since the chisels are probably worth twenty bucks.
I got a 1/4" polyurethane hose for my tire inflator, recommended by commenter rightisright. I have a feeling this tool will account for 95% of the compressor's on-time. These newfangled bike tires lose five pounds of air a day.
Oh, God. That beef is sitting on the table getting warm. And I have drudgery to complete.
Adios.
