Compressor Relocation Solution

Ron Paul has B.O.

I have the compressor all figured out. And I have an excuse to buy more toys.

I'm going to get one or two of those slingy fabric things and run them under the platform supports on the compressor. Then I'm going to attach a come along to the roof trusses and crank until the compressor starts to lift up. After that, I'll pull the pallet away and lower the compressor.

The thing I like about this solution is that I can turn the compressor 180 degrees while it's off the ground. Right now, it's facing the wrong way. And I should also be able to scoot the whole mess over while raising and lowering, moving the compressor where I want it without dragging it across the floor too much.

Here's a tooly sort of question. How much work is it to move an air conditioner refrigerant line? I know virtually nothing about central air, so I don't know the jargon, but the ninny who ran the line from the compressor to the air handler cut through a corner of the garage. I want to remove the line from the garage and re-route it under the floor, where it should have gone in the first place. Can I take this thing off and replace it without losing all the refrigerant?

It might make it easier for me to put the air compressor where I want it.
