Routed

I Hate Sears

Damn, this is interesting.

I have a router and table. It was the first real power tool I bought. I got it in about 1995. I had fantasies of making shelves.

I got discouraged, because no matter what I did, the bit seemed to wander around and end up wherever it wanted. Things I cut tended to be cut deeper at one end than the other, as measured from the center of the router's shaft, and the bit seemed to change height regardless of whether I locked it up.

Well tonight I ended up reading about routers, and it turns out that Craftsman routers (I should have known better) are notorious for changing depth and generally being pieces of shit. Man, that makes me mad. You use a tool and get bad results, and you assume it's because you're an idiot, and it turns out the tool is crap and you had no shot.

Jesus. I should donate it to charity. But then some other sucker would have the same problems. Maybe the best thing to do is to carry it to Mordor and toss it into a volcano.
